Artemiy Lebedev, a well-known designer and blogger, recently took to social media to express his thoughts on the demolition of the "Perm Gates" and the decline of Perm's cultural scene. Lebedev reminisced about the vibrant times of the city's cultural revolution in Perm, stating that it used to be an interesting and exciting place to be. However, he now describes Perm as a desolate city where nothing is happening.
The "Perm Gates" structure was erected in 2011 near the Perm II train station. However, it was demolished in June of this year to make way for the construction of a new club. Interestingly, the site of the demolished structure was once home to a church that was built in 1857. The church was destroyed during the Soviet era and replaced with a club.
Lebedev's post has sparked a conversation about the state of Perm's cultural scene and the city's overall stagnation. Many locals have expressed their agreement with his sentiments, highlighting the need for revitalization and the preservation of the city's historical landmarks.
