A Moscow court has fined opera singer Maria Maksakova-Igenbergs (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) 50,000 rubles for violating the activities of a foreign agent. This was announced by the press service of the capital's general jurisdiction courts on Monday, August 19.
"Maksakova-Igenbergs Maria Petrovna has been found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Art. 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (violation of the activities of a foreign agent)," the statement said in a Telegram channel.
The court's decision comes after Maksakova's departure from Russia in May 2022. A year later, in May 2023, the Russian Ministry of Justice declared her a foreign agent.
According to the ministry, the opera singer "called for the provision of weapons to Ukraine, the overthrow of the current state power of the Russian Federation, and acted as a respondent on information platforms provided by foreign structures."
